Community choirs

Una May is an exuberant musical force who will inspire and encourage you to find your voice. She runs workshops and has directed many choirs, including:

Leicester AMIKA Choir is a diverse group and sings songs from around the world and in many different languages: Yoruba, Hindi, Swahili, Italian, and many more. It's such fun and sometimes a challenge which we help each other with. Our learning is done by ear, so you don't need to read music. We have teaching CDs with songs in various parts so that choir members can listen and learn at home in between meetings and in preparation for performances.

We sing in four parts usually: soprano, alto, tenor and bass. It's Ok if you don't know which you are - come along and find out! There are opportunities for choir members to learn solos as part of our repertoire, although there's no pressure on you to do this.

Una May has recently taken over as musical director of WorldSong.

WorldSong's wide-ranging repertoire draws on harmony singing traditions from around the world - usually sung in the language of the country of origin. Formed in 1997 by Chris Rowbury, the 60-strong choir has performed extensively in Coventry and throughout the region.

The Llanidloes Community Choir (also known as the Wild Angels) are a Community Choir who perform a wonderful range of songs from around the world in a cappella style.

Formed for the recording of Pilgrimage, the Dyfi Valley Singers perform the backing vocals to Jackie Farley-Harper's lead vocals on:
